Scaffolding Installation

Preparing safe access for the roof works ahead

Week of 23rd June 2026

Work has begun on the roof upgrade project with the erection of scaffolding around the building. This is an essential first step to ensure that our contractors can access the roof safely and efficiently throughout the coming weeks. The scaffolding will remain in place for the duration of the project and will be removed once all works have been completed and inspected. We ask for your patience and understanding during this time.

Roof Strip-Back & Preparation Works

Both roofs stripped back and prepared ahead of the new insulation scheme

Week of 30th June 2026

Good progress has been made on the top main roof. The loose asphalt has been removed from the plinth areas and the previous gutter, which ran through the roof, has been taken out. New timber curbs have been installed to accommodate the new tapered insulation scheme, which arrives on Monday, and the vapour control layer has been installed across the majority of the field area. On the lower roof, everything has been cleaned back and the Bauder underlay installed, while the parapet walls have been encapsulated with new timber ready for the GRP trim. In addition, redundant pipes have been removed from the roof and new lead sleeves fabricated on site to suit the existing pipes.

Waterproofing & New Insulation

The new roof covering takes shape as the finishing layers go on

Week of 7th July 2026

The roof is now really taking shape. The mineral cap sheet — the final waterproof layer — has been installed across the majority of the roof areas and fully bonded to all of the parapet walls, with new GRP trim fitted to the edges to give a beautiful, clean finish. On the main roof, 95% of the vapour control layer is now in place, all of the curbs have been built, and installation of the new insulation has begun. The first valley has also been installed, which will direct rainwater straight into the newly installed hoppers.

Tapered Insulation & Lead Chutes

The main roof builds up in layers as the drainage details are fitted

Week of 14th July 2026

The vapour control layer has now been fully installed across the main roof. We have progressed well with the tapered insulation, which has been installed across a wide area of the roof and will help direct rainwater towards the outlets. The custom-made lead chutes have also been installed to aid the water drainage, and installation of the mineral cap sheet — the final waterproof layer — has started across the field area.
